What's On Your Nightstand - March 2009

What's On Your Nightstand

Current -

Skeletons at the Feast by Chris Bohjalian
This is our book club pick for April

Just Finished -

Here on Earth by Alice Hoffman and Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson- both previously started and I challenged myself to finish them as part of Callapider Days Spring Reading Thing

Next Up -

Beyond the White House by Jimmy Carter
I am a post-Presidency Jimmy Carter fan. I am impressed with his work with Habitat for Humanity and the irradication of diseases brought on by the guinea worm in Africa. His influence on the Middle East peace process was certainly Nobel Prize worthy. I am looking forward to reading about these endeavors from his perspective.

  2. I added Beyond the White House to my list after seeing it on yours. I am looking forward to hearing what you think about Skeletons at the Feast. I read it not too long ago, and I was quite taken with it. It delved into a facet of WWII that I haven't often seen explored.

  4. Three cups of Tea was a hard read for me as well. I don't know how far in you are, but once I was about 130 pages in, it moved much quicker.

  5. The book I want to read but probably won't get around to it until the kids are in college :) is Sen. Robert Byrd's autobiography Child of the Appalachian Coalfields. It's huge.
